hey guys i know this has probably been discussed but can't find any info. Im looking for a new diff cover that has a temp sensor port i seen this one from summit looks like it would work but don't know. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/t...0500/overview/
and another thing when i go to change out the gear oil if i want to use synthetic which one would i use?
If your truck is a F150/Bronco that cover will fit. Personally I think it is overkill. 75w-90 fluid will work fine. If you have a limited slip differential you may need to add some of LS additive. Not all fluid is made the same.
ok thank and another question would be im thinking about getting a oil temp gauge too but i don't know where to mount the sucker any ideas? 5.0L motor
For the gauge itself or the temp sensor? I would mount the gauge to the dash. The sensor might be trickier, maybe an alternator oil pan with a sensor port?
I'm curious, what are you using this truck for? Are you interested to know these temperatures just for fun (no judgement there, I enjoy data) or is this thing getting worked over hard?
well right now i have a coolant temp, volt gauge, and oil pressure. running 33x10.50 tires with 3.73 gears and im planning on upgrading the trailer plug to a 7 way and trailer brake with trans cooler for pulling cars around mainly. the gauges im looking to install now is trans temp, diff temp, oil temp and maybe a fuel pressure(not for sure on that one) just to see how the old girl is doing. truck right now is just for playin around the fields, trail riding, and as i said before haul cars around here and there.
well at the time i bought it she had 3.11 in it with 33x12.50 tires. but at the time i was going to 3.73 i was not planing on hauling some cars around, should have went with 4.11
