The 360 has the bore of a 390; you just need a 390 crank, rods and pistons. I have a 429 that I stocked out to 460 in my 76.
Agreed I was just thinking I might get lucky with a solid motor that I wouldn't have to get into. I've priced out new 390 crank, rods, and pistons and seems like I could probably pu whole motor for nearly the same coin. Not sure where to look for good used crank and rods. I'm not opposed to rebuilding the motor but if I don't have to right now we could concentrate on body and the interior.
I might have an OEM Diamondstep Pattern bumper out on the farm (if my sister hasn't done something with it) that would fit that pickup. I took it off of my 78 F250 Ranger when I put the heavy roll bar bumper on it....

Ok let me know maybe shoot me a pic if it's still around. Thank you
I like both the FE and the 385 sires, 429/460 engines. The 460 is a bit more modern engine and maybe easier to get parts for. The engine I run was a 429 and was built into a 460. Lots of torque and power, poor MPG. I run a 390 GT Fairlane engine in a 66 F100 4x4, I do like it a lot. Power is good a bit low in the low end torque. Better MPG, but is a F100 and the 76 is a F250 4x4.
A may know of some 390 parts and or engines here in Prineville.

I've heard that about the 460s good motors but love the gas. I figure I'll stay with the FE. That would e great if you could point me to the 390 parts, thank you!
