Question 58 M-100

Heigh Ho Fellows

I am in need of some help here, Please bare w/ me.
I have seen responces to these kind of posts before & I have had it listed in the Classifieds for almost a year now.

Needs & Desires;
1958 M-100 Hood (complete),
Fresh Air Scoop (not the flat grill),
Side Badges, Emblems, Letters (etc.),
Merc. Script Horn Button,
Merc. Script Tailgate,
Merc. Script Hub Caps (i have 3 of the originals),
Black **** Choke Pull (replacement is white),
Perferated Cloth Headliner & Kick Panels,
Exterior Spare Tire Mount;
Accessaries:
PolarAire Underdash A/C Unit w/ Merc. Script (there are holes for it from previous mounting),
Day & Night Mirror w/ Merc. Logo (original died),
Merc. Script Seat Belt Buckles,
Merc. Logo Floor Mats,
Heavy Duty Grille Guard (original unsalvageable),
Solid Backed Front License Plate Guard;
Literature for 58 M-100 Truck Pickup & anything else that would have the Mercury Logo on it that was available for the M-100.

This was my Great Uncles Ranch Truck of 40 years out in Rubideux, CA. & some of these parts were Replaced w/ the standard 58 Ford ones due to Damage, Loss or not at all . So I would like to get it back to its Original look. I had to have some things Fabed for it already. I found the Merc. Tailgate & it was so badly damaged I had to have the Center piece removed & mated to a Ford tailgates border . Looks great but still a piece meal product.

Now about the Fresh Air Scoop. The 58 Merc. Truck Operators Manual shows this Item on the M-100 in a head-on shot on the Cover, along w/ the 3 Round Hole Valance, which I have.

Only one inquiry to the Wated Listing was from a Nice guy wanting to know if I would like his 59 Ford Hood complete. I politely stated that I already had a 58 Ford Hood that the 58 Merc. Hood was replaced w/, but Thank'ee anyway.

Thank'ee in Advance.

Good luck on your serch, I know it is hard to find these things. It took me 8 years to find a pair of fenders for mine. Swap meets can be the best places to find parts. I bought a parts catalog and found all the parts I needed or wanted and wrote down the part #s in a little book. It helps a lot. Just corious is the fresh air scoop that is on my truck the one that you are looking for? (mine is not for sale) just corious thats all.

Are these the same pieces used on the Ford Big Trucks down here in the lower 48?
Also curious...

You on the Tick!
I take it yours came stock like the one I am trying to find?
I knew 57's would come in handy for some reason.

Please keep you Eyes peeled for me if you spy one from a 57-60 Ford/Merc. truck of any model that would fit, Thank'ee!

Have you tried Hemmings? The stuff you are looking for is pretty rare but the ammount of stuff in Hemmings is incredible. Give it a try. It doesn't cost too much and you never know, you may get lucky. I've had amazing good luck buying through Hemmings.

Get a subscription. It may take a few monthsl I don't know how many other people are looking for Merc pickup stuff, but if you're really serious spend a couple extra bucks and get your subscription by first class mail. That way you'll have a couple days jump on everybody else.

Good luck, and be safe.

Yes, yes I have. They have Squat for 57-60 Ford/Merc. F/M-100's when last catalog arrived. I have had the subscription for almost as long as I have owned my Uncles truck, a littel over a year. So far the funds invested in the subscription have been waisted.
Seems the Popular trucks are all they carry parts for, 56 trucks on back & 61 on up.

Thank'ee though, I will keep my eyes peeled for my catalog when it arrives, Hwmmings could actually suprise my one day & have something I need.

You might be waiting for a while to find all those parts. Have you tried the Classifieds on http://mercurypickup.com? 57-60 doesn't seem to be many around at least in Sask. I've seen 5 48-52 Mercury and Ford trucks, 4 53 Ford and Mercurys, 54 Mercury, 1 59 and 60 Ford and dozens of 61-66 Fords and Mercurys. At a wreaker I saw at least 5 mercury trucks from 48-52 and 61-66. If your in Sask you should try Elfros Autowreaking and The Truck Boneyard. They have many hard to find parts for older vehicles.

Take a month off, come up to Canada, and tour the wrecking yards. Buy a classified ad that'll run in all the local papers in Canada, and place a want ad in Hemmings.

Was'nt too long ago I saw a 58 M100 longbed sell on Ebay.
It was in Canada and looked to be in great shape! Can't remember what it sold for though. I almost bid but too far to go get it! Sounds like Canada would be a good place to look!

I will also keep you in mine as well. The scoop I have didn't come with my truck. I found it in a box with a B7C#### on it. It is a large truck scoop. Their is a 58 fire truck near here that has 1 on it.
