There is so much great info on this forum and it is super helpful. I have a 350 KR on order and I have been reading through all the threads on audio upgrades as well as researching various components. It seams that although the DSR1 is fairly new a few folks have successfully installed it with good results. bronco's posts(thanks, great info) in this thread talk about his success in detail. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s....php?t=1518613
I thought I would start a thread to discuss this in more detail for those that have either done it or are thinking about is as a route to pursue. From what bronco posted and YouTube U it looks pretty straight forward to install the DSR1, configure it, and wire it up with a 5 channel amp for all your speakers. There are also lots of threads on sub-woofer installs so you just need to make a choice there. Also, the methods for tuning with an RTA ap and a pink noise file have lots of how to videos available.
I would be interested and highly appreciative for anyone willing to share:
comments on those that have installed, pics, and any issues
what amps have you used?
how did you handle the center speaker... it is used for calls and other sounds. do you use a seperate amp, just wire it direct, get an amp with more than 5 channels?
what speakers have you used?

From other audio forums it seems like most guys are staying away from the DSR1 for a while, I think a lot of guys got burnt by the lack of support on the 360.3 and the general bugginess in the software that never got patched or updated. Interested to see how you guys like it after a while.
There do seem to be some bad vibes on some posts but I have not seen any negative comments on those that have installed the dsr1. Those have all been good with the comment that setup is complex but manageable. I am extrapolating that this is do to many available adjustments that can be set. That said, the number of actual videos and posts is quite small. I am hoping we can get some fact based examples on this thread to help out those of us thinking about the dsr1.

Very strange how I was talking to a Rockford Fosgate rep on You Tube a few weeks ago and he said that the DSR1 is better than their 360.3 and he also said the reason the 360.3 is more expensive is because of the aluminum housing.
I wonder how many people are going to get burned again by Rockford Fosgate. Lol
The reviews for it on Crutchfield are pretty dismal. Honestly, If I were going full active I would be getting a MiniDSP C-DSP6x8, the featureset and support are really unheard of at this price point. It's only $50 more than the DSR1, and does a whoooooole lot more. Plug a mic in and you can auto tune your time alignment and crossovers, all sorts of cool stuff. It might be a little too DIY/Techy for peeps here though.
The miniDSP C-DSP 6x8 is a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) targeting mobile/car audio installations. Leveraging years of experience building reliable platforms, miniDSP engineered the C-DSP 6x8 to pack plenty of processing power and I/O into a small and sturdy enclosure—a perfect fit for installations with limited space.
On the hardware side, the audio configuration of 6 x inputs (analog and digital) by 8 x outputs is perfect for multi-way setups. Don’t be fooled by its size or its price, this small enclosure packs high quality converters and enough DSP power to make your audio tweaking dreams come true. On the software side, the software application allows real time control of the unit via its driverless USB interface. The onboard microSD card slot supports offline configuration and firmware updates if you ever miss your laptop. Finally, the C-DSP 6x8 will follow in the footsteps of our product line with constant upgrades via new plug-ins and new features. Stay tuned for an exciting new ride!
Features
172MHz 28/56 bit Processor
Digital and Analog inputs (Low/High levels), 8 analog outputs
I'm not completely finished installing my system yet but I'm enjoying the DSR-1 so far. The hardest part of setting up the system is that nowhere in the paperwork does it mention you need to update both the idatalink Maestro part but also Rockford side of it. Once that was completed, it plugged in with little to no problem and was running in a matter of a couple minutes. I double checked with SloScooter on a extra harness that was not needed as well. Tuning was quick through my iPhone but I'll spend more time on it once my replacement sub is here and installed.
Install was easy IMO and tuning with the phone or tablet has been very convenient. I even used cheap speakers and amps to see how well the DSP is. Worked great so far. Not running the center channel. The chime is a little louder than normal but not by much. Very happy with the DSR1 and was scared to use it due to others issues but I have had none. I would buy this product again. Upgrading to audio frog components next month along with JL HD amps.

If you`re going with Audio Frog and JL HD amps next month for an upgrade, why not just upgrade your processor as well or use the new JL VXi AMPS and a PAC AmpPro with the optional "optical" output and go all digital and you can ditch any and all RCA cables. Just a thought.
I have thought about it as I already have the PAC AMP PRO for the wife’s truck as she waits on her Custom sub build. I could go that route too, it has crossed my mind.
I'm starting to accumulate the parts I need for my audio upgrade, but am confused by the DSR-1 and AFO2 harness compatibility with SYNC 3 systems. I see lots of people talking about it, and using it with the "Sony Amplified system", but Crutchfield says it won't fit in my truck (fits 2017 F250 lariat with sony system though), and when I look at the Rockford website specs for the AFO2 harness for the DSR-1 it lists F-250 "My Ford Touch" Radio (8 Inch Screen) Sony Amplified System as being compatible (2017-2019), but no mention of SYNC 3. My understanding is that "My Ford Touch" was discontinued in like 2015. I have a 2017 F250 Platinum which has the SYNC 3 8" screen, and has the Sony amp and Subwoofer behind the Driver's side rear seat. Any idea if the DSR-1 with AFO2 harness will work? Anyone else using the DSR-1 with AFO2 harness? Do you have a "My Ford Touch" or Sync 3 system?

For your truck, you will need the AF02 harness if you choose to use a DSR-1. I have both in my 2017 F350 Lariat with the Sony system.

I'm pretty sure that's correct. I think the Crutchfield website is just dumb. If I put in 2017 Lariat with Sony system it says it works. If I put in 2017 Platinum it says it won't work. Pretty sure the Platinum has the same Sony system as the Lariat. Thanks for your post. Bought the DSR-1, AFO2 harness, and a JL Audio 900/5 amp. Figure I'll test it out with the stock speakers to make sure it all works before I go further. Not sure what I want for the speakers yet. Will post my results with the DSR-1 here.
