Transmission won't shift into reverse

I have a 1997 ford expedition with a 4.6l 4wd it has a 4r70w transmission. I have recently started having problems with this transmission such as when I shift into reverse and press the gas it goes forward and same for every other gear. Park is the only gear that still is working .Does anyone have an idea what might be going on or does it just need a rebuild?

You sure the linkage is adjusted correctly?

If the linkage is connected all the way from the shifter to the manual valve inside the transmission pan, the trans is all done and needs a rebuild.
