Do you have a question or are we supposed to guess as to what vehicle you have and what you're looking for?

Poster may I suggest you put your info in your signature. I did figure out you had some kind of diesel . I have diesel tractors but nothing that would apply to a regen system .
Do ask for a specific answer . Its not really clear what you are after.
The rest us gas people will stay out of it as we don't have any real input . . We don't see much diesel talk here but you are welcome .
We do go to your public profile to get an idea . But you with hold some info from people who may be able to help you. I understand you want to protect your self but we don't have much trouble . Year of truck mileage etc .
I think I did figure out you have a 6.7 diesel and you moved to FL from Calif. Big humidity difference.

Followup and a question

Well, I got my Banks iDash in and operating. Many thanks to everyone here. These discussions were very helpful.

One of the things I wanted to investigate with the gage was the two schools of thought about what a driver could/should do during an active regen, those being:

a) just drive normally, or

b) lockout higher gears so as to maintain 2,000 rpms (to mimic what happens during a manual or stationary regen). The thinking here is that by doing this exhaust gasses will be higher and thus clean the DPF quicker and more thoroughly.

I've attempted to look at this during one regen, and it seemed that, no matter what I did as a driver, the #4 temperature hovered around 1,100. No more or less.

I want to look at this some more, but right now, I'm thinking just drive normally is best. This will result in better fuel milage during an unavoidable fuel guzzling event. No use wasting fuel if there's no benefits.

Has your experience been different?

(I know this has come up on many threads that I've read, but I don't believe a definitive consensus was ever reached.)

Rich
