Well it's not a resto mod or a custom restoration so that makes it a period correct. Original or not YOU can not tell the difference between a 272 and a 312 visually at a glance looking under the hood. It's well represented as a close to correct 56. Compared to a lot of what is out there
who knows just maybe this is a Bob Jones special (December 1956 hot rod magazine) sold at bob jones skyland ford Denver Colorado. 56 ford trucks were being sold with 312 engines withthe power pack option, lowered, dual exhaust, custom interiors , fender skirts, driving lights, spot lights., all the goodies right off the show room floor.
Why do people insist in referring to their restored rides as original when they ain't? (sigh)
I know what you mean, Bill. I recently saw a craigslist as where the seller said their truck was "100% original" then went on to list all the modifications to it, and it was quite a list. That bugs me, too. But in this case I have to agree with the others. I read it as it was an original Custom Cab truck, as in factory optioned, and originally a red truck, not just painted red. I'm sure it looked great in someone's driveway 60 years ago. I'm not sure if either of these things add or subtract value, but it does appear to be an above average vehicle compared to most.
