I,m building an 86 302 to put in an 87 thunderbird and I,m thinking of using the E-303 cam. just wanted to get some input from you guys about the cam.
here are the specs.
86 302 bored over .010
E7 heads with 1.9I/1.6E and mild port work
weiand stealth intake
600 carb (holley or edelbrock, not sure yet)
double roller timing set
high volume oil pump (FRPP)
9:1 comp ratio
equal length headers dual exhaust
AOD tranny
what I,m looking for is a daily driver with some performance. I,m pretty sure this combo should fit the bill nicely. give me your input, good or bad.
Is that block a roller? If not then you are gonna have to use a flat tappet. Whichever it is (I think it is hydraulic flat tappet) I would give comp cam, crane cam or lunati a call and give them your specs and see what they say. Otherwise it will make a nice street motor. Not to blow smoke or anything but I wanted a brand recommendation from some people here and I was led to comp cam, not to take one persons word my brother knows a machinist that does stock rebuilds to full blown (more money than it cost to buy my house) race engines and he actually said he has had very good results with the extreme energy line, they apply to roller or flat tappet. Good luck

Go for it, personally I would get the comp or crane, etc. but the e-303 should do what you want, in that car. Yeah 85 was the first year I believe for the roller, Good luck
your combination sounds prety good, but in my opinion it think the Compcams 270HR would be a better choice;
