Have a 350DRW , where there any length difference in pitman arms on these?
The one I have is 5.5" from sector shaft to the ball joint center.
Found a few threads about drop/offset ones but nothing on distance between centers.
Would like a longer one if possible.
Cheers Steve
I got to ask ...... Why you need a longer one?
I would think be it stock or dropped the C to C will be the same the drop one just puts the rod back where it should be with out a lift.
Dave ----
Sounds like he wants quicker steering. But that would be harder on the steering box and harder on the frame also where the box mounts. And we know frame cracking is a problem on these trucks. He has a large truck with probably large tires, he should think about it before trying to find a longer pitman arm(if they made one).
Just asking if there were differences. Have a very poor turning circle and looking to improve it.
There is plenty of clearance to chassis and body parts for a little more lock to lock.
Correct about the right hand drive and this is an Aussie steering box so the USA splines maybe different.. Like an idiot I gave away the LHD box during the conversion and I have a feeling the arm was longer on that box. Still trying to track it down as the place it went to had a fire and damaged a lot of stock.
As I doubt many F350's were assembled here my guess is they used F100/150 parts.
Standard tyres and rims
Would still like a measurement center to center if someone can help out
Thanks for your thoughts and concerns
Cheers Steve
When I get back out to my garage tomorrow I can measure the one on my F100.
I will also check where the steering stops are, out at the spindles or in the box?
Dave ----
Dave,
Thanks.
My stops are in the axle ends, work on the spindles.
This truck is Canadian build, ex USA. Current box is ex Aus F series. Just what it came off is a good question. A Kirby Bishop box if I have it right.
Could call it an "International Bitza" as there are so many parts from different manufacturers that have gone into the build.
Just for your info, the steering boxes on f150 thru f350's are all the same over here in the states. It's the same box as used on the little ranger pickups over here also. If you ever need a used steering box from the junkyard, it's best to get one from a ranger pickup, it leads a easy life guiding the little pickup around.
Thanks for the heads up on the Rangers but don't think Ford bought the USA versions in here, mostly badge engineered Mazda's and Nissans
Would still like the measurements if someone has a chance to do some measuring.
Cheers Steve
Would still appreciate if someone can measure their pitman arm, center to center. Would like to see if they are the same as the Aussie arms.
Thanks Steve
