I currently have 35X12.50R20LT tires on my truck. I went in today to tire store to have them balanced and rotated. They said that the tires I have on the truck are not rated for my truck. (2011 F350). I was told the the load rating of the tires is 121Q and I need 125E. My question is.... 121Q ok for my truck? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Man I have 125 d’s on my f250 ... been running them for a3 months... they’re fine and softer ride.. I don’t tow so if you tow go with e’s the 125 and all that is for speed because the faster you go the more heat is generated.. but I still run 125 d rated toyo opens...
That should be fine depending on how much you tow or haul. If you add them together that gives you a 6400 lb rear axle rating, unloaded the rear is generally around 3000 lbs so as long as you don't put more than 3,400 lbs in the bed you won't be overloading the tires.
The problem stems from the RGAWR for the F350 SRW being higher than a pair of 121 load index tires can cover. To max the RGAWR the tires need to have a load index of 125, this is why optioning F350 SRWs with 17s reduced RGAWR, and why Ford made 18" steel wheels for XLs.
As is already mentioned, you're fine if you don't overload the tires. The shop probably just had the book in front of them and didn't apply any shred of critical reasoning.
That sounds like a d rating for couragia.. I could be wrong, i was looking at the couragias myself.. google some of the reviews though it’s interesting...
I ran into the same issue when I put wheels/tires on my F250. I ended up buying Toyo ATII Extremes because they were one of the few tires I could find in the size I wanted that met the load rating (actually they far exceed it).
