I think a critter has died in my 2002 F-150 and don't know where to look but the obvious. I took all the cowl off and saw nothing so I removed blower motor (WAPITA) din't see anything.
The smell gets really bad when I turn on AC.
Any suggestions as what to do next????
It might be just mold/mildew build-up in the air box from the A/C components icing up and then dripping water. Check your HVAC drain hose for blockage. Also, you can grab a can of Lysol and spray it into the air intake above the hood at the base of the windshield. Roll down the windows, crank the A/C and fan, and spray the Lysol into the air intake.

I just replaced the heater core last year(for the 2nd time). Here in Florida don't have much freezing.
Smells like the rat that died in my wife's Mazda. Was on top of the blower motor fan..

Where might the HVAC drain hose be located?
Will try the Lysol also.
The freezing is from running the A/C. The evapourator inside the dash gets ice-cold. Then, like a cold glass of beer on a hot day, the moisture condenses and melts off when you turn off the truck. If the drain hose is blocked, you'll have your own little swamp growing in there.
I'm wondering if maybe you either pinched or disconnected the drain hose while replacing your heater core... Might want to check around your floor area for moisture.

Looks and feels dry, will try and locate that drain tomorrow.
