When i bought it 2 weeks ago the guy said it would not start, got it home and got it started last weekend. Was missing real bad amd it made a pop sound and started smoking pretty bad, thanking freeze plugs. Also was getting some blow by.
The earlier town car motor should work fine, but like was mentioned will likely make less power. Unless it is leaking antifreeze I doubt I would suspect freeze plugs. I would read the codes and check fuel pressure and for vacuum leaks.
Is your '95 truck MAF? If so the Car engine is not directly swappable as it will have the wrong firing order and that has to match for sequential injection. I think you should do a little more troubleshooting on the truck before writing off the engine.
if your truck is MAF (mass air flow) 5.0 HO and it should be. the only car 5.0 that will work are from an 85 - 95 Mustang or 86 - 92 Lincoln Mark VII and if you can find one the 85 / 86 small LTD LX. however you should also look at a 5.0 HO V8 Explorer / Mercury Mountaineer. they will have cast iron GT40 heads. The Lincoln Town car / Crown Vic / Grand Marquis / Thunderbird / Cougar and so on only had 5.0 EFI this engine will work in the F150 if it does not have mass air flow.
