Washboard and lots of vibration. Also lots of travel on a 5" lift.
I had camped for 1 night and the next morning my fuel pump started making a high pitched sound. I could stand 5 feet from the fuel tank and could hear the sound. It was really loud at first and started becoming less and less loud the more I drove it.
The drive home was about 3-5 hours and there was still a high pitched noise when I got home but not as high as before.
It has been a week and there is no more high pitched sound. The fuel pump sounds normal.
If I have a dirty tank, can all that vibration loosen all the gunk and make the fuel in the tank "hazy" with sediment making my pump struggle?
yes, the vibrations and bouncing around will knock crud loose in the tank. my bet is the crud blocked the pickup screed causing the noise in the pump.
if there is that much crap in the tank, i would drop it and either clean it or replace the tank, and most likely change the pump too so it does not die out in the middle of nowhere.
