Is there a rust through warranty on these F-150's? I'm sure there is. I noticed the 2012 I just bought is rusted through on the bottom passenger side of the cab! And it's from TX! No other rust anywhere. I'm guessing the warranty is probably for five years or 100,000, which I'm over on both so it's probably tuff crap. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
There are some threads out there concerning this problem. I think the warranty is 5years/60k miles, but don’t quote me on it. They definitely have a design problem. Some rockers rust out from water getting in through the rear brake light, others like mine just get water trapped due to the large holes on the inner panels. Mine had a piece of tape from the factory on most of the holes, but that didn’t seem to help much. They also have a triple wall construction in the rocker panel that prohibits rustproofing from underneath. In order to get any rustproofing, oil spray or Fluidfilm to the right place, holes need to be drilled on the top side of the rocker. Some Ford dealers have helped in a few out of warranty cases, but not many have been shared here.
The rust warranty is 5 years. There isn't a mileage warranty. However, when I took mine in (4 years and 10 months old, 125,000 miles on the odometer) I was told that the rust has to be a total perforation. In other words, if you can stick fingers all the way through the body panel, it's covered.
Check the in-service date on your truck. If it's somehow inside 5 years, go get it fixed. But my guess is that your time limit is up.
I have a 2003 f150 Harley Edition. I’ve taken care of this truck from day 1. Problem is the rocker panels are rusting out. I understand I’m not alone. Can anyone help me?

It's a 15 year old vehicle. What were you expecting?
My truck is in need of inner and outer rockers on both sides. I am looking at about $4K to have the work done and it is going in next month to get the passenger side taken care of. That side is the worst of the them and the other side will get done next year.
