Need Help!! I have a Ford 350 superduty V 10 .....The fornt end has caused me alot of money..It seems that the front tires wear on the inside in no time so I decided to rotate more often after replacing and that didn't help!! Does anybody have that problem with the front end.....Alignment done! New Tires done! New shocks done! any info Thanks
Welcome to FTE, FV10SP. Is it 2 or 4WD? What year model? If you had the front end aligned have you taken to another shop to confirm? Could be the springs getting weak. Seems like they would have caught that at the alignment shop, though. How many miles on the truck?
Lets see 2000 4WD ...I have had two alignments and all is well. I havent cheked the springs yet!! Is there an easy way of ckecking them? When im going down the road about 55mph i get this bouncing feeling in the truck and the console shakes like crazy...
I have replaced the front tires 3 times since I bought the truck new I currentley have 75K miles..
I already replaced the shocks at the same time a got new tires and an alignment...aswell. I pull a 32' pull behind travel trailer. It seems that the vibration is coming from the left driver side maybe it is a wheel.......
Did you take it to the same alignment shop each time? Sometimes the instruments are out of calibration. And as far as the springs go, if they are not allowing the truck to sag more than and inch or so unloaded, then they are fine.
If you have a 7.3 PSD you might need to pull another ½ degree out (positive camber), that is about .200” further out on the top of the wheel than the bottom. Those engines are heavy. I wonder if they took that in consideration, if in fact you do have a PSD?
Has it ever been wrecked? If one tire is setting further back than the other, and the front end was aligned to accommodate this, then that could be the problem. Hopefully someone else that has had this problem will step in. I have about 79K on my truck with a V10 and no problems.
The truck vibrates all the time.... I did a quick check on the bearings raised the truck and checked for any play on the tire and it seemed to be ok.....the drver side shock was bad when i replaced them.. I thought this might fix my problem however it did help..but now it shakes just as badd....hummm.. it looks like maybe i should look at the springs and replace my bearings for starters.... and check my wheel...
I don't see how the springs could cause this with a solid axle. The camber is set. The springs couldn't have any effect regardless how much they sag. I would take it to a different alignment shop and have them check the toe and the camber. The ball joints could be going bad giving you bad camber. Or a wheel bearing but if they have no play when jacked up it seems to rule these both out. Also put the rear wheels and tires on the front and see if this helps.
I guess I can go backand check my springs etc. I will probably replace the bearings and ball joints just in case. Thanks for all the input maybe I can take some of you guys suggestions and hopefully fix it.... I will let you guys know what the outcome is Thanks Again!!!

I agree, RRike, but I was thinking that since the shop could not find the problem, that maybe his caster might be out a little. Maybe ball joint center being out of line caused by the tilt of his housing IF the springs were "sprung" if you will. If the front end has negative caster then the tires would go wherever they wanted to - sort of. Just had me confused since the he had already had them aligned - twice.

What kind of wheels do you have? Is it a dually with the factory five spoke aluminum wheels? If so I'll bet you have a cracked rim. Take the wheel of, do you have any tires that are always low on air or that lose air in a period of several weeks? Check the inner part of the rim right down where the spoke/hod conects to the actual rim portion. look carefully after cleaning the rim well. I have seen two wheels on F-350's do this and it will lead to a vibration. The cracks are very small, but for some reason play hell with the ride. I hope this works.
