Do very randomly my truck's front drivers side brake is dragging. Sometimes lightly, sometimes (like today) enough to shake the steering wheel and pour smoke from the fender. Then like today it stops and rolls fine.
These trucks a notorious for sticking front calipers, I think it is because they use a phenolic piston, but I can't say for sure. I replaced both of my front calipers when they started hanging up, but mine weren't intermittent, they were constantly hanging up causing the truck to reek of burning brakes.
However, it could also be caused by a bad brake hose. If you catch it while a brake is hanging, jack up the wheel and try to turn it (get a feel for how much it is dragging, or if is even possible to turn by hand) then, crack the brake bleeder. if you can turn the wheel now, then the caliper is probably ok and the next likely suspect is the rubber brake hose.
Got everything going back together. But what is the small bolt that's on the hose fitting right at the bracket? The one on the old hose was tight, the one on the new hose seems like brass and is loose.
And does it matter which pin goes where? I didn't pay attention to the fact that there were 2 different pins!

Reason: PINS!!
They will ruin your rotors and wheel bearings . I fought this after a brake job . Seems piston being out absorbs moisture after pressed back in it sticks intermittently .
