I have a '96 F150 XLT 5.0L and am using a BAFX Bluetooth Wireless OBDII Reader to chase down some EGR fault codes. I noticed that O2S1Eq is showing "no data." Does that mean there is no signal coming from the O2 sensor? It's not showing an O2 fault code.
There should be three oxygen sensors on this truck (OBDII). Two upstream sensors that switch rich/lean and are used for fueling adjustments during closed loop operation: Bank1Sensor1, Bank2Sensor1; and a post catalyst Bank1Sensor2 that has no impact on fueling, and is effectively an emissions check (may also be labeled Bank2Sensor2). Does this use an app on your phone? I'm not familiar with the BAFX reader.
Yes, the reader uploads on my phone and I'm using the "Torque" app to read it. Seems to work well. I may try another app to see if the problem is in the current app. I just figure I should be getting something out of the O2 sensors and if not, a fault code.
Thanks for sorting the Bank/Sensor data, maybe that's where I should be looking.
This vintage Ford truck may not support that PID. These early OBD-II trucks are somewhat primitive. I would suggest using FORScan to see if it is an App issue or if it is this vintage PCM.
Since you are not getting a code, I would suspect you are viewing a non-used PID.
I've had great luck with Torque on my 96' F150. Have you added the Ford PID list yet? I can view all O2 sensors, MAF, engine load, open vs closed loop, fuel flow, trans temp, engine temp, air temp, etc etc.
Open torque, bottom left click the gear. Click "settings". "Manage extra PIDs/Sensors". Top right, click the 3 dots, then "Add predefined set", then select "Ford (Incl PowerStroke)". Should add a lot of functionality to the app for you.
Great advice, I had the free version and the paid is so much better. The O2 sensors, remarkably, are working great. Switched out the DPFE today and cleared the fault. We'll see if it sticks.
