Radio volume

Anyone have the radio volume go all the way up on a Mach3 system. It's in 2005 Mariner. Was cold out and was warming up for a minute before taking off and turned volume up slightly, went way up and wouldn't adjust. Only way to get it down was to shut off. Has speed comp volume and have noticed sometimes backing into garage while turning down radio it seems to jump up. Do I just need to send in somewhere for service?

I believe this is a sensor control and not the typical potentiometer. Sensors detec the movement and direction of the **** being turned and the electronics make the adjustments. If some dust or lint finds it's way into the sensors, then it can "think"it's being turned up when it's not. Another possibility is that the connections to the steering wheel or the control on the wheel could be the culprit.
Likely the radio would be replaced and not the control serviced if you took it somewhere.. Almost NOBODY does component level repairs anymore even if the repair only required a light cleaning of the sensors.

Ok, thanks for heads up on replacement. Tried blowing out around **** and rotating several times while off. Seemed to be normal so far. Keeping fingers crossed.
