I’ve got a 1996 F-250, mostly stock ( cold air, 3” down pipe, 5” straight pipe, and ts six position). The problem I’m having with is that if I get into the gas it takes off strong, but it’s powers seems to fall away and lose its guts. I kinda think it feels like it’s is out running it’s fuel but this is just a logical guess. Is it possible for stock injectors to do this? it does this on all hp settings, the higher the setting the more stall. It will even do it slightly on stock.
I have only owned the truck for less than six months, haven’t gotten around to change it out. Will do on next oil change. Unless it could be related to the problem.
change the fuel filter and check the fuel pressure on the schrader valve while its running. it's right there on the fuel bowl. just use a tire gauge you're not worried about destroying.
Report back findings.
They will run at .. i wanna say 45+
But you wont have any power if you really romp on it. You want 65-75.
I have never changed out the fuel filter on this truck. How do you do it?
There is drain valve on the passenger side of the fuel bowl. It has the little yellow handle. Before you open the drain valve, look down between the fuel bowl and the glow plug relay and make sure the small rubber hose is connected to the bottom of the drain valve. The hose runs forward to a steel tube that runs down the front of the block. If it's not connected to the bottom of the drain valve, the fuel you drain from the bowl when you open the valve will run into the valley of the engine and make a mess. You can see the yellow handle of the drain valve in the closed position in this picture........
If your filter cap is made like the one in this picture, a large screw driver can be used to remove the cap. Some caps are made with a square hole in the top that a half inch drive ratchet will fit in for removal. A new cap and o-ring will come with the new filter depending on which brand you buy, but some just come with a new o-ring and filter element, and you snap the new element to the bottom of your cap. I like the Motorcraft filters myself. In this picture note the position of the drain valve handle. It is in the open position........
Hm, maybe I've been lucky about where I buy fuel, but ours have never gotten more than brown. In any event, if the OP's filter is... dark... he should replace it and re-test.

yeah. I've had algae too, and you'll pump it out of the ground to your truck, it just might not grow.
