Red face ESOF Schematic

Hello, I’m new here. I have an 03 Excursion with a 4x4 problem. I had a vacuum problem which has been fixed, vacuum motor changed, changed the auto locking hubs which sealed up my vacuum problem and my transfer case does go into 4x4 high and low. The question I have is with the solonoid on the right fender. I have power on the center connected of the plug. Regardless of what I do, 4x4 high, low or 4x2, there is no change in the other wires. I would assume one of the wires would have power coming to the solonoid to activate it and allow vacuum to the hubs. Help me out here. What am I missing.

You should have power to the center wire anytime the ignition is in RUN.

The PVH solenoid has two sides (coils), one for locking and the other for unlocking. The solenoid is energized by applying a GROUND signal to the side of solenoid for a prescribed time interval, according to the function, supplied by the 4WD control module. Off the top of my head, I seem to recall one was for a few seconds only the other was two or three times the timing interval.

You have to measure the two control wires with the connector hooked to the solenoid and then back-probing the wires. You should read battery voltage on pins 1 & 3 anytime the ignition is in RUN and whenever the 4WD module is not attempting to switch the hubs.
