E-Z Wiring Documentation

E-Z Wiring Documentation
I am in the process of wiring my 56 using an E-Z Wiring 21 circuit kit. I assume that anyone who has a OEM vehicle that is already wired should be able to navigate the instructions without too much difficulty...BUT...if you are building a vehicle from scratch it's not an easy proposition. I called the company and the tech guy said that they don't have any other schematics available, if I have a specific question then he will answer it. Does anyone on the forum have any schematics for E-Z Wiring kits? I thought I would ask because right now my only other option is to wring out the fuse block and make my own drawings.

Is this the manual you got with your wiring kit?
http://d44tech.com/EZ_Wiring_Manual.pdf
If not , maybe it will help

I do have the book, it's just not what I would call a technical document. The documentation that is provided with the Painless Wiring Kit is far superior.
I had to look up the definition for "doddle"...wasn't sure if that meant easy or PITA.
Thanks for posting the .pdf Smitty.
I am about halfway through reverse engineering the fuse block, I like to know where the power comes in and where it goes out and all the stops in between. I have seen some posts from others about strange things happening with the circuits dropping off or being intermittent. These things can only be troubleshot with accurate documentation.

I used the EZ when I built Blue, the '49. I called asking for a schematic as well but was told what I got is what was available. Quite poor, IMO. And yes, I've spent much of my life going over schematics much more complicated. Give me a schematic, I can make it work or figure out why it won't work.

I used the EZ Wiring 21 circuit harness on my 49. I don't remember having any issues but its been quite awhile now and I might just have bad memory.
If I remember correctly the EZ Wiring harness uses the pretty much the same color scheme as GM. I spent way too many years as a driveability mechanic at a variety of GM dealerships; Cadillac, Buick, GMC and Pontiac so I had a pretty good familiarity of what goes where. That being said, I do remember that the "pamphlet" that came with the harness was a little lacking. I still have it and can dig it up if necessary. It seems like there was some basic schematics for Ford, Mopar, and GM starting and charging systems and a main wire color/circuit chart but not much more
Don't forget your grounds and make sure they are making good contact to steel (scrape the paint/powder coating off under them)
I've never had a wiring issue with my truck. I've had it on the road for approx. 10 years, have made numerous cross country road trips, beat the heck out of it at the drag strip, etc. In all that time the only electrical repair I've had to make was to replace the turn signal flasher.
Good luck

It's called EZ wire for a reason and the cheapest one I could find and Sean is a good tech guy that is easy to work with if you run into a problem..Just don't try getting a hold of him on a Friday afternoon...

I have dropped the fuse block and traced all the wiring. I now have the answers I need. I am sure that if a person has a "stock" configured truck/car then this wiring kit would indeed be "EZ", unfortunately in my case I have too many upgrades to blindly connect wires without fully understanding where they came from. Thanks for the inputs and if you need some more in depth info about this setup let me know.
