I have a 2011 fx4 with the oem 20" wheels. I just bought some brand new 17" take off wheels and tires from a 2017 raptor but the tpms sensors where removed for their new wheels. So my question is can I use the ones out of my oem wheels or will i have to get new ones?
YES & a reputable place like Discount Tire for example, will replace the seals, etc. prior to re-install.
So lets say I take both sets of wheels to Pep Boys, they will have to unmount, remount, and balance both sets of tires and move the tpms sensors over. They charge $17.99 per tire for tpms replacement, so do you think i will charged $144 for all 8 tires? does that sound right? and will they have to replace the valve stems or will they swap? Also if I bought 4 new sensors on ebay would they install them or would they require me to buy their sensors? Basically whats the most cost effective way to do this?
One thing to note--the TPMS batteries have a limited lifespan (IIRC, they're supposed to last 7 years), so you're probably going to be better off with new sensors. A tire shop shouldn't have any problems with using TPMS senders that you provide, but there's no way to know without asking.

Also, even if he'd left the TPMS sensors on the wheels, you'd still need new ones--the '09-'14 and '15+ have incompatible TPMS (I think they use different frequencies).

Yea I believe you are right about that. So I put the wheels on this afternoon without the sensors and was driving around town and never got a low pressure light. Does it take time to show up or what?
Thanks for all the help it's greatly appreciated.

I think it does take time, but it's not very long, like a few miles or maybe a few minutes. I know the last time I had a flat I had to drive around on the spare for a few days while I waited for the new tire, and I don't recall getting a TPMS warning on the spare. I did get a warning when the tire got below the threshold on its way to "damn, that's expensive," and I got another warning on the new tire while the truck was relearning that sensor, but nothing while on the spare. I'm pretty sure I'd gotten a TPMS warning every time I started the truck while running on the spare on previous occasions, so I don't know what was special about that time.

Interesting, I have put about 20 miles on them and have nothing yet. I guess I will just drive it and see what happens.
So on the way to work this morning my low pressure light came on, it took about 30 miles for it to come on. I ordered the "genuine" ebay special sensors, so I'll hope for the best that they are legitimate.

Glad to see u bought new Sensors & I am sorry I didn't catch the year difference. Now I don't know for sure, but I too have read that the sensors are different between the generations. Actually it will work out to get new ones as u wont have to pay for swapping all 8 & they are new again.
BTW, those Raptor wheels look amazing on your silver truck g
