My 2010 F-250 Super Duty 6.4L with 59000 miles will blow smoke out the exhaust occasionally. I've kept up the maintenance as required and can't get an answer as to why or is it hurting my engine or is it a self-clean issue or something I should be concerned about?
the next time this happens,
press setup, then reset
it will scroll thru system checks, then after the miles to empty report, look for
cleaning exhaust filter
if it says that, its going thru the dpf clean cycle
if a few attempts to clean it fails, during normal driving, you will see
drive to clean exhuast filter
the drive to clean exhaust filter is a more serious state as a few back ground cleanings have been attempted
theres a period of driving at 35pmh or greater needed....it can be as quick as 5 minutes or as long as 20 minutes.
