I bought a bed for my truck project yesterday. Upon loading it, I noticed that it was a factory-made Ford bed, not some generic aftermarket or home built bed. It has the raised Ford lettering in it.
My truck is an International, and I planned to cut this bed down to use it for my project. But, since it's a real Ford bed, I 'd hate to do that to it if someone has a need for it for their restoration!
It measures 7'3" x 12'. I planned to cut it down to about 8' or so, since my truck has a short wheelbase. It's in great shape. The 'Headache rack' was cut off to make it lighter to load (it's a later, kinda crappy add-on)
Anyone looking for one of these?? I'd rather see it bolted on to a FORD than cut it!
Being 12 footer, My bet is it came from an F-500 or F600. I once had a 1960 ex-air force F500 with that bed and factory stake sides.
Ford was doing script beds clear back in the 20s with the TT. They had "Ford Truck" in the stylized cursive script. Then later, like AA, they just had the cursive Ford logo. I am not sure if the script beds were continuously available after the AA to 57 though.
Thanks for thinking of the Ford guys and not hacking it up.
