I recently purchased a 2017 F-250 XLT 4x4 CCSB from a dealer, used with 10,900 miles. I was doing my best to save a few bucks, a truck like this with this many miles I figured was a safe bet with no problems. The Carfax shows that the vehicle was a fleet truck leased by a company for around 6 months.
Shortly after getting the truck, I noticed a faint burning smell after driving even just a few miles. I went underneath and saw that transmission fluid was dripping on the exhaust and burning on the hot exhaust pipe.
I took the truck back to the dealer under factory warranty and they replaced the transmission pan gasket. They claim the dealer that did the transmission recall (coming out of park) didn't put the gasket on properly, and they had fixed it.
Unfortunately, the problem all exists and the transmission is still leaking on to the exhaust. I've got another call in to the dealer to have it looked at again.
