No solenoid cracked by itself. So my really good 6.4 starter is sitting on work bench until I find a new solenoid that is made by a reputable company. I am currently running a oriellys starter that will barely crank my truck over when the oil is cold and thick.
ouch

Ah. Twisted the stud off I did. Bought a cheap starter from advanced. It last a 1.5 months. Bought the best one Autozone had and it seems well. I kept my core in case I came across a good solenoid.

My cost on a new 6.0 motorcraft starter from Ford is about 350.00. I just would really hate to buy a new starter over a 50$ part.

Well that was a epic fail ford does not sell that part number anymore. Looks like Amazon or eBay is the only way to get a starter solenoid.

Thanks for the update! I hate a thread with no closure.
The most expensive solenoid I've found was 22 bucks.

This one was 26.00 on Amazon. If it does not work out i found the part number for a Bosch Reman 6.4 starter. They are 133.00 plus a core charge.

I suspect all of those on Amazon, eBay, and the retail parts stores are coming out of China from WAI.

Check eBay for a low miles used starter. It will probably last longer than one of those Chinese made ones plus a little cheaper. Just a thought.

I have the box for the one I got to fix a bad one.
It was from a local builder that has a good rep.

Well Dam it.
The box is gone and I can only find the one starter.
I should have 3 of them.
The box was white with a black & reddish/orange logo.
