Would one of you guys with a 2 wheel drive crew cab and a zf 5 speed be willing to measure the drive shafts and let me know the length of them please, i am gathering parts to put a zf in my 86 and dont remember what length i need.
Thanks!
If your truck has a t19 then the zf5 should be longer, which means you just need to have your shaft shortened. Local welding shop around here does it for dirt, but they only shorten unless you want to get it balanced.

I have a C6 now but the truck may have originally been a t19 because there is a hole in the fire wall for the clutch master cylinder to mount and the hole for the shifter is also there, they are just blocked off with some diamond plate secured with bolts. I have been told that the zf5 and e4od use the same drive shaft length but i have no proof. Also in my quest to find a good zf i have run into the same problem i did with an e40d swap, not all zf transmissions have the necessary gear to drive the speedometer so does anyone know what year they stopped installing the gear on the output shaft? My quest for parts is slow going, so far all i have is the shifter with the **** and boot, a pedal assembly and the reverse light/ neutral safety switch bypass harness.
I'm not too familiar with the obs but I would say the 91-older should work as they still used a mechanical speedo. Hopefully someone with a 92-97 truck will chime in here.
