I'm considering purchasing a 1977 F350 Trailer Special from a friend at work. I have not looked at the truck yet, Monday after work. Anyway, He said this truck has the longer wheelbase, spare tire carrier inside the bed fender well on the passenger side. I have been doing some reading, some sources say all 2WD F350's of this vintage have the extended wheelbases, others say only the Camper and Trailer Special. Can somebody please set me straight?
Also, any particular problem areas, outside of the usual stuff associated with a 40+ year old vehicle, I should be aware of when I look at this truck?
Single rear wheel F350’s have 140” wheel base and spare tire storage in bed.
Cool trucks and on the rare side.
Thanks for the info! It sounds like a cool truck to me too. After selling my 85' F350 a year or so ago, I have been itching for another older truck. The truck I am going to look at is said to be a XLT Ranger, 460/C6, no rust, all trim nice but has a "knock" in the engine. The mechanical work does not scare me, better than lots of rust repair any day!
