I'm wanting to install a set of lock-out hubs on my 60 F250 4x4. Does anyone here have experience with this modification? The only set I found when searching for my specific vehicle was this set from 4 Wheel Parts:
So I assume your hubs are currently locked in all the time now with the factory set-up? I'm pretty sure Warn probably still makes the lockouts for a closed knuckle Dana44. You disassemble should be easy enough. And the new parts will be clean and should have instructions. Maybe pick up a service manual first and brush up on the process but it's not hard. I would check with Bronco Graveyard, Rock Auto and Randys ring and pinion to see what they offer.
I noticed this guy was selling Dana 44F lockout hub assemblies from Warn when I bought my disc brake kit for my F100. It should be the same hub assembly for both, if not he would know. Have not compared his price to others on the hubs
You guys know offhand how many splines the axle shafts have? I've seen references to both 16 and 19 splines for the Spicer 44 application. Guess I could always pop one open & count.
I don't recall what my count was. I just did a quick napa search. It pulled up a bunch of options. I bet you can get a set locally from a parts house, just have to figure out which set you need.
Guess I'll just have to look around. Contacted Jeff's Bronco & they said they didn't carry anything that would work on that axle. Don't know if that's actually the case, or they just don't have any hubs that are manufactured specifically for the 60 F250 application of that axle. I thought the same Spicer 44 was also used in jeeps, broncos, etc. Can anyone point me towards a more common 4x4 that used the same axle?
On an unrelated note - anyone know the fluid spec for our divorce mounted t-cases? Going to. replace rubber mounts & service.
