52 F1 rear end

Hi guy's, I have a stock rear end from a 52 F1 and would like to change the gears from 3.92 to 3.31. Will I have to replace the carrier also to make this change? Any info on this is appreciated. Thanks.

You may also consider the common 9" replacement. It's a bolt in deal and parts are everywhere.

I checked Randy's and they have a gear set with a 3.31 that works with Spicer/ Dana 44 but, like ALBUQ F-1 mentioned, the carrier needs to be replaced to accommodate the 3.31...........was hoping just a gear change to keep cost down. Anyway, this rearend is a side project for me, I replaced it with a 9" a few years back when I did over my 49 F1
I like working on this stuff so I'll check out the $$ and see if it's worth a gear swap. Thanks for help
