rear wheel spacing

Hello All! I am looking to upgrade my wheels and tires on my 75 F100 shortbed. Currently it's lowered with the DJM lowering kit in the front and back and also lowered an additional 3 inches in the rear with Detroit Eaton lowering leaf springs. Currently I have 18x8 wheels all the way around, with 4.5" backspacing and I think zero offset, and with 265/60/18 tires in the rear and 245/60/18 in the front. After lowering it this weekend, the rear tucks just a little and there's probably 1/4-1/2 inch of tire clearance between the tire and the fender. The front clears with no issues as they are. I am looking to go with 20" American Racing Salt Flats, with 20x10's in the rear, 20x8's in the front. Do I need to increase my backspacing on the rear wheels? If so, what to? 5.5" or 6"? I assume the front will be the same, as long as I keep the tire size the same, only taller. All your thoughts are appreciated

From what 'I' understand, backspacing & offset are essentially the same measuring systems....... I have 20x10 w/ +38mm offset that fit great. The factory says they are a 5.5" backspace.....however you can order them in a 7" backspace w/ 0 offset......which is almost exactly the same wheel..... From what I understand anyway......

I have a 76 SWB with a little room on the fender side, so if you order I eould think you would need a 6.5" offset to be perfect, and that would give you about a 1/2-3/4" clearance on both fender, and bed side......

Hope that helps some...

Just to confirm what Noodles said, backspacing and offset are the same thing.
Just measured differently.

Backspacing: Distance between mounting pad and the inner edge of the wheel. Typically in inches.

Offset: Distance between mounting pad and center of the wheel. Typically in mm with the inner portion being negative and the outer portion being positive.
