fuel pump??
I have a 1988 F-150 with a 300 l6 in it. I have a 133' wheelbase with dual tanks. here is my question. when I turn the key on before I start the truck I will here the fuel pump run for about 1 second or so. but sometimes it is not a smooth steady run, it makes a "sickly" sound like it is straining or missing. should I replace it.(I am also having problems with engine when it is cold)where is the fuel pump, and how hard is it to replace.

I have a 92 F150 302 with two tanks. I'm not sure about sick sound you are referring to, but one one mine has this "buzzing" noise that comes and goes. It has been doing that for a couple of years, but still seems to work fine. Have you ever completely run the tank out of fuel? That will burn 'em up fast. As for changing them, it is not easy. You have to have a special clip tool remove the lines, but it is cheap.
