Wipers not working suddenly, 93 F350
Hello everyone!
My wipers stopped quite unexpectedly on my 1993 F350, here's how the story goes so far.
I got the truck a year ago, the wiper motor was dead when I got it, so I replaced it when I was replacing other stuff. worked fine until last weekend.
Saturday night, I drove it home, pulling a trailer through a somewhat nasty winter storm. Wipers worked absolutely fine at that point. I parked the truck at like 10 pm. The next morning, the wipers were dead locked right where i left them, not in the "park" position, but about 1/3 of the way up. Luckily, the weather had cleared, so I drove the truck without wipers until I got the truck apart today.
First thing I did was check the in dash fuse, and I also swapped it for one out of one of my other trucks, making sure I was using a "known good" part.
Secondly, I had a multifunction switch to swap into the truck anyway ( a high/low beam issue that was intermittent) so i swapped in the Multifunction switch, in hopes it would cure all of my issues. It didn't.
Finally, I decided to pull the cowl, to make sure that the linkages were moving freely, not binding up, and because i didn't have any sort of test equipment at home, I unbolted the wiper motor and put it in the work truck to go with me to work tomorrow.
So, now that I'm out of simple easy ideas, I'm here looking for test procedures, and not finding any. So here I go asking.
first off, the motor is a "2 plug" wiper motor. What terminals do i need to feed power and ground to, to make it operate on a bench, thereby making sure the motor itself is ok?
Secondly, what wires do i need to check for power on the plugs, to verify that i am getting power to the wiper motor?
Thirdly, if the motor tests good, and there is no power at whatever terminals I am supposed to have power at, where do I need to look next?
Thanks again!
Lee
