Question about #19 (Body security module) fuse for 2003 Super Duty Diesel:
I pulled this fuse by mistake while motor was running! Whoops! Engine stopped.
Now of course it won't start.
Can I fix or will it need a computer reboot?
It's possible that truck thought it was being stolen. You may have to reprogram pats system to keys if it has a pats system. Does it crank? If not try to turn the ignition off and press the lock and unlock buttons on your remote. Try again after.
Thanks for the quick responce.
I agree, the truck "thought" it was stolen!
I didn't realize this functiion existed on my truck until this happened.
The engine cranks fine, just not getting fuel. So, the fuel pump has been shut down. I tried just leaving it for an hour before trying again, hoping there might be a "time-out" factor. No joy.
Your suggestion about trying the electric lock trick sounds good. Unfortunately, I had to leave the truck in town so can't try that.
The ignition key is just a regular one.
It will be tomorrow before I can try anything more.
Last resort will be a tow to the shop.
Thanks again.
ps: wondering if a code reader/analyzer could correct this.
A 2003 Super Duty doesn't have PATS, scratch that idea. Besides, PATS-equipped vehicles don't shut down the fuel pump when there's a PATS event.
FWIW, the VSM shouldn't have any ability to inhibit engine operation, it doesn't have any connection to the PCM. All it does is handle RKE, autolamp, and power door lock features on the SD.
