05 f350 dually 6.0 turbo diesel 143k miles 11.5 mpg..sometimes power resembles a gas engine with fouled spark plug(s)..oh, also EXCESSIVE chatter, especially cold, but even heated up, much louder chatter than other diesels.
I know this is an old thread but..............
From what you describe I doubt it's your glow plugs. A bad glow plug or two will make the engine harder to start. In my '99 7.3 the truck would start fairly easy until 4 plugs had gone bad. When the truck started you could tell it was missing for a minute or two till it warmed up and started firing on all 8 cylinders. When it got bad enough I'd change all 8 at the same time. My truck always ran good once it was warmed up even when it had bad glow plugs.
