Gauge Cluster screen

We ordered an XL and optioned it out with the Ultimate Tow Camera which forces Sync3. I normally like really optioned out vehicles, but these trucks are just so damn expensive in the other trims that we opted for the XL since we could get Sync3 and the UTC. The one other thing I really wish I could have gotten was the awesome gauge cluster screen, but I figured I could live without it because one of our other cars have a super techy gauge cluster and I rarely use it.

The thing that's bothering me though is I assumed it was the 4 inch color display, but looking now the XL comes with the gameboy style display. However, I read somewhere that when you get Sync3 it forces the 4 inch color display in the gauge cluster, is this true? If so, I think I'll be able to live with it. The work trucks at my last job were F-150' XLT's that had that cluster screen and it was nifty enough.

I've read there is a way to put the awesome cluster in any of these trucks, but I'd really rather not do that. I'm just hoping at this point the XL with Sync3 comes with the 4 inch color screen and am hoping someone can confirm this for me.

Thanks

Nice, thanks! You don’t happen to have any pics of your interior do you? I haven’t seen an actual interior other than the computer renderings on ford.com since we ordered it.

I like the Gameboy reference! That’s exactly what it’s like. I bought mine off the lot so I didn’t get to build it out. Just bought an Edge Insight CTS2 to compensate for the crap driver information cluster...not sure how much the upgrade is...and may require alittle forscan knowledge (which I don’t have).

Awesome, thank you! I think I can live with that. We opted to not have navigation because we were told Sync3 has Apple Car Play and you can run navigation through the phone to the screen. That had better be the case for the dealers sake...we had to reorder our truck because they screwed the first order up. It'll be almost 6 months before we get our truck.

as far as I no the only way to get NAV through phone is to have it plug into USB port..i did not want any wires.....NAV is not an option in XL the APIM has to be replaced

I'm fine with having the phone plugged in. As long as Nav pops up on the screen that way, I'm good with it. Whats the APIM? That's weird that there is anything that has to be swapped out...I would have though the Sync3 system would be the same along all trims.

On XL/STX with Sync 3, Navigation is not an available option. It can be added third party. I do like Android Auto with Google maps. I installed after market 7" radio.

Some newer after market radios are now supporting wireless Andriod Auto. I didn't want to pay the premium for it.
