I have an STX. The folding mirrors are the only thing I would have liked that I don't have. I prefer a regular cab. Not sure if XLT is available in regular cab?
Ordering a 2018 F350 4x4, 6.2 SCSB. Tell me guys, any advantage or disadvantage between the XLT w/o XLT value pack and the XL with the STX pack. Both trucks with identical options, XLT $850 more. Worth the $850 for the XLT Badge, or is there something I don't see?
Both trucks with identical options selected? I'm surprised at the $850 difference. When I was ordering, the XLT vs my STX, identically built was almost $1600 more. Maybe because mine is a CC. I'd love to see your two Build As sheets.
h2ocamper, that's right, identical options and the XLT without the XLT value package which adds $1600, so would be $2450 difference. That's why I thought maybe the XLT will get me extra for the $850 that makes it worth it. I have had many vehicles with "Fog Lamps" that I never used, power seats really don't matter, I'm the only one driving it. (set it and forget it), IMO. Has for trade in value, I keep my vehicles that I buy new, 8 to 10 years, so not a big factor. I am leaning to paying the $850 for the XLT badge just for perceived extra value. What is $850, on a $47,000 truck that is equipped 'exactly' how I want it ? This is a great site! Thanks for the input
h20camper, by the way, beautiful truck! I'm still on the fence of Magnetic or Ingot Silver.
Thank you. On the other side of the truck is a 'Magnetic' Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was considering the same for the truck but the darker color shows the dirt, imperfections, etc much more. I'm very glad I went with the Silver.
.
My curiosity was up so a just built a SuperCab STX and a XLT (giving the STX these base XLT options...Power Equipment Group, Box Link, Cloth Seats, Carpet, Trailer Brake Controller, Deep Tinted Windows, Sync, Sirius XM) and there is a $710 difference. You could create a greater difference if you didn't need/want some of those options.
The based XLT in SC model would give you:
Nicer door trim
Nicer dash trim
Much nicer (IMO) 4.2" Color Instrument Cluster (I actually upgraded mine because I couldn't stand the 2.3" blue LCD)
Cloth Sun Visors with dual mirrors and covers
I think for ~$700 I'd get the XLT even though I like the STX fender vent badges.
I'd have to think hard about the XLT Value Pkg for its cost of ~$1600. I do like the SecuriCode keypad and I added to my truck after the fact (not an option on XL/STX)
I am going through this exact exercise now for a new company vehicle. They have a decent 250 CCSB 6.2 XLT FX4 standard build to include XLT value package. I spec’d it out as an XL-STX with PEG and added all the things I want/need that wasn’t in their spec (4.30’s, upfitter switches and UIM, dual batteries, HD alternator, Sync3,UTTCS, BLIS, tailgate step, box lights, advanced security pack, Roof marker lights.). I came out over 1K cheaper including upgrading to cloth seats and adding remote start, reverse sensing, platform running boards that were also in their spec. I don’t want carpet, and don’t need adjustable pedals, 8 way seat, fog lights, and chrome trim on my dash and cloth visors. Only thing I am missing is Securicode keypad, which thanks to this site I can add for a minimal cost later. Rear under seat storage is also not an issue as I need that space for other things. Resale is not a concern for me obviously. Now it is just getting our fleet manager to price it out with our leasing company and agreeing to allow me to deviate from the “standard”.
