i have a 17 ccsb 6.2. It has the 32 gal tank that takes a fill-up of 26-28 gal if your lucky. My old 2010 5.4 has a 36gal tank. I loved being able to go 2 weeks in between Fill ups. When the gas light can on, I would put 34 gal in it.
I know it’s not good to let your gas tank run down that much, and I didn’t do it often, but I liked having the capability.

Can i have a 48gal OEM tank installed in my truck?
I don’t want to put an Aux tank in the bed.

 

I'm pretty sure there isn't room for the 48 gallon tank on the short bed, at least it won't just bolt up. Also your truck has a 34 gallon tank.

Definitely the OEM 48 won't fit in anything shorter than a CCLB.

 

You need the 176" WB for the 48 gallon tank. Love it for the long towing trips!!

 

Sounds like you are a candidate for the tsb for the fuel tank it gains you a few extra gallons and fill ups are around 30 gallons afterward. Someone will be along with the tsb # soon I’m sure. The guys that have had it done seem to be pretty happy with it.
