I can’t believe that the 2017 Ford F250 does not have a locking gas door. I really don’t want to put a locking gas cap as I might be out without a key. Ford goes to all the trouble of putting all the bells and whistles with cup holders everywhere on this truck but NO locking gas door.
You used to be able to get locking gas caps. Never saw one for the threaded caps, but never looked for one. I feel the main deterrent is that, as stated on many posts, is make it easier to get someone else's stuff. If you have a locking cap and are parked next to someone who doesn't, the odds are you will wake up with a full tank and the other vehicle will not. As Annonomus once said, "I do not need to be faster than the bear, I only need to be faster than you!"
But, But, But.... if they want it.. they W I L L get it...
I had 2 cars stolen..... with alarms and steering wheel locks.
even with insurance.. I still lost money.
gas/wheels/catalytic converters.. or the car/truck.. and wheel locks are a joke...
I own a special socket that will remove all wheel locks.. and I got it from Sears... years ago.
for when customers lost the key/nut.. OFTEN.
Chuck is right, it's almost impossible to syphon gas out of newer vehicles because of the newer filler neck design. If they want to steal gas today they just punch a hole in the tank.
