Hello, lately I've been riding in my friends truck with a stack and I've always been against them but after riding in his truck I've somewhat changed my thoughts. What are some people's opinions on a stacked 6.0? Anyone that's had one how loud is it? I know it's gonna be loud but is it too crazy loud that it's annoying? Just curious on what some people who have had expierece with a stack think.
My friend has 5” dual stacks on his 05 that come out right behind the cab and the sound is stupid loud almost like you want to tell him you want out or a pair of earplugs. Forget about having a conversation as the whine from the turbo is constant and never stops.
I've never understood the concept of someone putting stacks on a truck.
Side pipes? Maybe, if you are talking a 60's or 70's gasser if tastefully done, but why a regular truck would be "graced" with stacks is beyond me, not to mention the holes in the bed and extra room they take.
Not to be stereotypical, but more often than not when I see the owner of a stacked pickup I often think to myself somewhere there is a herd of goats that is missing a goat roper.
I say go for it man. Asking anout anything on this site that’s slightly out of the “norm” will get you ridiculed and make you feel stupid for wanting it. I know it’s a forum and anyone can say what they want, but you’ll have people comment just to tell you how stupid they are and how stupid you are for wanting it. They’ll also probably tell you that you have a small d*** for putting one on there. My opinion is it’s your truck and you should do what you want. Yes they are loud and will drone in the cab pretty bad depending on what you install. Two stacks will drone less because each one will be flowing half as much air, compared to a single. Also, the bigger the stack the less it will drone because there won’t be as much pressure through the pipe. If after all is said and done you think it’s still too loud, they do sell mufflers that slide into stacks to quiet it down. The only drawback to all of it in my opinion is cutting a hole in your bed. I mean with a welder and a scrap piece of metal from another bed you could fix it but if you ever go to sell it people might not like it. In the end man it’s your truck, do what you want with it. Everyone that doesn’t like it can just go away, it’s not their truck.
Sorry? I don't see where anyone is telling the OP he was stupid or compensating for something.
My last comment was an attempt to inject a little humor into my post, it certainly doesn't mean everyone with stacks is a redneck.
I'm guessing the OP is going to do what he wants to regardless of some comments on the forum......I know I would, but he asked for feed back so he is going to get it........right, wrong or otherwise.
And I don’t remember saying anything about your post. Maybe you shouldn’t be so defensive when you weren’t even mentioned. I’m just telling him how it ALWAYS goes on this forum. There’s a lot of great information here and a lot of good people. There’s also a lot of people that just like to make people feel stupid for liking what they like. Have a good day man.
Ask yourself "why"? What are the gains? It's your truck, go for it. You already know it's going to be loud. Plus the sooty mess it makes and the room in the bed they waste.
But hey at least there's a chance to be famous when someone catches a picture of your rig and posts it on the Rediculous Stacks thread.
There's positives to everything!
Better yet, please put a big one out the bed and show picts here maybe with sound going down the road,i know how mine sounds under the truck, be interesting, im thinking youll need to upgrade the radio or speakers, can always just text any riders with you.
I've always wondered: why? Maybe it started as someone wanting to look more like a big rig, then the "look" just caught on as something that was cool in certain crowds. A tasteful set of brass bull b*lls hanging from your hitch and a confederate flag in the back window, do pretty much round out the total look...
I see cars with gigantic wide wheels and tires, slammed, with the wheels at ridiculous negative camber, so they fit in the fenders. And I also wonder: why?
But both sets of folks probably hang with a group that likes that respective look and those are their rides...
Do what you want, it's your truck... As for the radio upgrade: I rarely even turn mine on, the motor and turbo is music to my ears...
Funny story on exhaust noise in the cab: back in the 90's when we were doing our racing down in Houston, I was putting on a free flowing muffler kit on our tow rig/gasser truck. Well I got the exhaust all cut off and found the kit wasn't going to bolt up, so I had the exhaust just ending right under the cab, open pipe.
And we had to tow the car from Spring TX to near Galveston for a race -- about a hundred miles each way. Man was my Wife pissed, man did we get some looks from other motorists. MAN was it crazy loud in that cab!!!
But we won, so it was all good -- makes me smile just thinking about it...
