Trac Bar Bushing Install

Pressed the old ones out with my 20ton press.

I got Energy Suspension bushings going back in but i can not seem to get them started. The Flange on the end of the bushing is bigger than the ID of the trac bar.
When trying to press them in the bushing gets pressure on it and then starts walking or sliding out of the hole.

Any suggestions on getting them in ?

I got them in the freezer now since 3pm est and plan to heat the eyelets on the bar and cross my fingers.

Clean the hole the old bushing came out of. This may require sandpaper.

Lubricate with vegetable oil; petroleum products may damage the bushing down the road.

Freeze the new bushing for 24 hours first. I see you have it in the freezer, it takes time to get it really cold.

Thats the Plan
Freeze the bushing and heat the rod. Any tricks getting it started in the hole ? That seems to be the most difficult part.

I was going to do this a while back, but then realized mine was aftermarket because it had offset bushing to allow for some adjustment. I ended up putting an adjustable bar on with be in joints. That thing is beefy. Probably weighs 2x as much. Overkill but That is okay.

Good luck!!

well I put the bushings in the freezer and heat it up the track bar that did not help at all.
I know it may not have been the right way but I trimmed the edges of the bushings. Basically trimmed off the flanges and they were super tight to press in still.
after investigating a little more I do not even see the purpose for the flanges once you put the track bar into the truck the bushing could in no way move side to side nor could the track bar move on the bushing it's it's in there pretty darn tight .
so for those of you who are installing these things for one make sure you have a good size press and make sure you trim the flange off of the bushing.

Sorry, coming in late on this one. I had the same problem with mine. I had to do the same thing you did which was cut down some of the flange on one side. Like you said it's trapped in the pocket anyway so it can't come back out.
