This might be beating a dead horse but Im gonna ask anyway. I have a 77' crew cab that I want to put seats in out of a 97' F350 crew cab. Ive read where the seat swap is pretty easy that you take the seat tracks off the 77 seat and mount on the 97 seats. Ok so the 97 40/20/40 seat has the large frame under it where both buckets and center seat/console are mounted. So is it easiest to mount the 77 slides to the framework or is it better to remove the frame and mount everything independently? Im only talking front seat right now. Like to know what other people have done thanks.
I ended up abandoning the 97 mounting brackets, and used the stock 79 front seat guides and mounts. I used 3/4" x 1 1/2" .120" tubing across the guides and mounted the seats to this. It defeats the individual adjustability feature, but it places the seats much lower in the truck (similar to factory seat height). I had to do some trimming on the center seat/console to get it to match the height of the buckets, but so far, it is working fine.
PS: I needed to tilt the seats back, using about 3/4" spacers (which were welded onto the front rectangular tubing) to make them comfortable for me, I'm 6'2".
