Have been searching for answers on this one and wondering if anyone can help me out. There's a few threads vaguely mentioning the purpose and function, but wondering if there's some schematics out there?
I believe there's four wires coming off the **** (don't have it in front of me) and wondering where they go? It'd be nice to have it working again.
1966 Ford F100 - Motorcraft 2100 carb.
It's got a 351c in there (don't know if that makes a difference)
I did an advanced search here and only three threads show up for this terminology. Sorry I'm not going to be any help.
As stated in one thread, it is likely for an electric fuel pump. It isn't shown in the wiring diagram for the 66 on Fordification.com and I can't find one online.
There's a link to the thread I found on the sight. Nothing really comes up when searching Google. Not on any wiring diagrams I can find either. Thanks though for that wiring diagram you linked, that will help in the future!
Mine looks pretty much the same (hold for 10 seconds) and it pulls out.
I will try to post some pictures of the **** and wires today.
Thanks!
Carb primer **** on the right...as mentioned it pulls out. 4 wires coming off the ****. Can't really see the colors...the PO got kinda messy with the paint job. One looks to be red with blue or black stripe. One looks yellow with,?green? stripe.

Since it's not stock, I have a feeling the PO was planning to add something to the truck using that switch, and found the carb primer bezel in a bigger truck. That's not even the correct type of switch for the carb primer, as it was a spring loaded toggle which was held closed for 10 seconds.
I say this because my truck has an extra switch added to the dash to the right of the steering column with nothing connected to it (or the one next to it). One is where I believe the manual choke would be normally, and the other (labeled CARGO) was just hacked in next to it. I have yet to figure out what was intended for these switches, and probably never will...
Well, good to know it's not stock...I imagine a lot isn't on this truck. Maybe I can find another use for that switch. There's already lighters on passenger and driver sides of the dash...don't need another one! Hah.
Thanks for the input and answers.
Just guessing here, but maybe it was an electric fuel pump to fill the carb on vehicles that weren't used much. The only primer I've ever seen on a gas engine truck was a unit that sprayed starting fluid into the intake, but you wouldn't want to hold that on for 10 seconds.

There's only supposed to be one lighter, and that's where your mystery switch is mounted.
If the locations for your TWO lighters is where I think it is, that's supposed to be fresh air vent pulls. Can you give us a pic of those?

Yeah...I imagined it was some device that slowly trickled gas into the carb to help it start easier?

I will get a picture up soon...makes sense though considering the lighter mounts are directly above the vents on either side. So what, it had some sort of arm or rod leading to the vent levers that allowed them to open without reaching under the dash?
