I have a 91 F250 custom 7.5 L 460 V8 four-wheel drive my transmission likes to kick out of 3rd gear if I accelerate hard or if I'm not holding the holding the shifter up in third as I shift out of 3rd into 4th I'll hit 4th and it will grind and and then it'll go in to 4th but as I let out the clutch it grinds like it's not in 4th but if I put the clutch back in and kinda plam it in past the grinding and then let the clutch out it works and it will stay in 4th gear what is my problem it'll shift into 5th just fine the truck does have an self adjusting clutch was told it's the linkage between 3rd and 4th gear
welcome to FTE
sounds like it is time to pull the trans for a rebuild.
third gear sounds like a problem with shifter fork, and 4th sounds like work syncro gears.
thank you yes I was thinking about getting a new tranny just didn't Want to if I didn't have to can it be my clutch do u know if my hydraulic clutch needed to be bled i guess I got to find a tranny I do a lot of cattle hauling so I don't know if I can do an upgrade on a transmission it's a 5 speed with overdrive any ideas
