I have a weird one I feel... At certain temperatures... usually a warmed day... my truck just smells bad... almost like I left a sweaty shirt in it or gym shoes... but I don't. I keep my truck pretty immaculate. I had to have the marker lights replaces at the dealership this summer because they were leaking water into the truck but they told me they cleaned that all up... and it stunk before that was an issue. I have shampooed everything and cleaned it over and over... has anyone had a similar issue?
The vent under your wipers. Dump some vanilla down it. A whole bottle of the cheapest vanilla you can. Spray some in the AC ducts.
Make sure the AC evaporator doesn't have a plugged drain. When it gets warm out, leave the windows open for a while. If it's cold in your area, run the heat with the AC button on.
Do you always use re-circulation when using the AC?
X2.. if you do youve built up mold in the vent system. only 3 ways to cure it.. get an O-zone generator and run the system while your not in it.. this will kill off the bacteria in the ducts.. pay someone to spay the ducts down with chemical agents (ford dealer can do this).. or pay a large sum to have everything in the system replaced.. the mold likes to grow in the evaporator core itself but will attach to the walls of the ducts as well..
they make a product you can spray in the vest to disinfect the AC components. Used to be called Fridgi-Fresh and I think they sell a similar product over the counter. very typical in humid climates
Simple trick is to turn off a/c-defrost and allow fan to dry moisture out before turning vehicle off, we have gotten into the habit of doing this and it works.
Wife has a Suburban with rear a/c and they are known for doing this so we go ahead of it.
Have you ever changed your cabin filter? My wife’s F150 started smelling musty last summer and as soon as I put a new cabin filter in the smell went away.

That's what I did with an older truck. Turned off the AC about a mile before I got home. That solved the problem.

i tried that stuff once... made the inside of the car smell like a freshly shampooed carpet.. week later the odor was back.. 2nd time i tried it only lasted 3 days.. then it was a mix of freshly cleaned carpet and armpits..
I must say that my truck had the worst new car smell I have ever experienced after it sat in the heat during the day, it went away after many months, it was horrible.
Do you have a sunroof that might be leaking? I have heard that some of trucks that have leaky sunroofs start to smell quite bad. Mine isn't leaking but I am keeping a close eye on it as it has been rainy pretty hard!
