1996 F250 HD 5.8l help with fastener sizes

I have purchased a project truck through an Auction site. Initial goal was to see if I could get it to run. I did and in doing so I’ve discovered #8 cylinder has burnt piston. I’m going to attempt to replace piston and all gaskets involved. I’m close to pulling motor today and many problems I have encountered are hardware problems. Appears every time this truck had a problem the last owner lost bolts and used what he found in a bucket lol. Can someone lead me to a manual or site that will identify the original fastener size? Example: passenger side head where alternator bracket is mounted. What was the original size bolts, pitch and length. I have removed so much from motor and zip locked labeled bags for hardware that came off. Only problem is most is incorrect or missing. Any help would be much appreciated.

That would be an interesting resource if it exists. ???

The one thing that drives me batty about these mid nineties Fords is that they are half metric and half standard fasteners.

You need to get all of your tools out for some of the most basic repairs.

Good luck and welcome to FTE

Yike

Exactly. I did pull the motor today but myself... rookie I am. It showed.. I didn’t get my hoist centered well and motor fell down and forward breaking off top of bell housing on C6.

Anyone know the size of motor mount nuts for my 1996 5.8l? They appear to be metric. The nuts that came off are egg shaped so most likely weren’t the correct ones.

Is one side of the nut beveled like a lug nut? If so, it's an all metal top lock nut. It will start by hand for 2-3 threads but you will have to wrench it the rest of the way on.

Locking nut or not. These nuts are oval like as in forced on. I’m replacing the motor mounts and can carry one into local hardware store. I was ordering some fasteners and thought if anyone knew the correct size...I have some thread gauges for standard thread and none fit..Must be metric.
