Another Update with ?'s...

Ok, my XLT seems to be runnin fine, with a few exceptions:

1. My Brakes seem off, even after bleeding, the pedal seems loose, they squeal a bit, and today after a 5 min drive the car smelled somthing like I had the E-Brake riding, but I didn't, and the hubs in front were real hot, not the calipers, just the hubs, and only the fronts. Any ideas? I think I'm just gonna go to a brake shop and get an overview done, advice?

2. Took off cover to passenger door b/c of problems with window rolling up (Auto), and have concluded that I do, in fact, need a new motor, but, when I do, how do I get the motor in there? Theres only a few holes, and a novice like myself is gonna have trouble installing somthing I can't see Helen Keller style.

I have others as well, but lastly, a small one.

I have some missin screws to my interior, causing things to rattle, is there a specific screw I need?

Thanks,
B

You can pull the whole regulator out with the motor attached, but it's as much trouble drilling out the rivets and then bolting it back in as working blind just to pull the motor. There are a few little dimples in the door skin where you can drill 1/2-inch holes to get to the motor bolts, but it's hard to describe which dimples, so get a mirror & a light and look around to see where the bolts are. They use a 5/16" or 8mm socket (those are the same actual size).

Which screw depends on which location you need them. You'll have to be more specific.

The screws are located all over, door panels mostly, some in the interior of the back.

Meaning what, I'm not that far into Haynes yet, been quite busy.

Thanks,
B.

Most of the interior plastic screws are countersunk with a captive washer.

...meaning it's up to you how you want to do it. I usually drill the 4 big rivets out with a 1/4" bit and pull the whole regulator so I can service it. Then I use 1/4-20x1/2" bolts & nylock nuts to rehang it.

Thanks a bunch, going to pick up some screws after work prolly.

So it'd be in my best interests to pull it out fully eh? I can't see me goin Helen Keller on it and not wanting to shoot myself.

you can always drill 3 holes in the door in order to get to the 3 bolts that hold the actual motor on the regulator
