good price or not?

I am looking for opinions from those who have purchased a 2017 or 2018 F-250 already, my local dealers do not want to negotiate on the price as much as I would have expected. Found a 2018 the way I would want it in another state and they are giving 12% off MSRP + TTL = about an 8600 discount. Locally they were giving less than that discount on a higher priced 2017 but more fee's so in the end the 2017 was just under 11%. I know this varies but is this actually a good deal or should I wait for something better? Even including a shipping cost of $650 it's still a better discount, but obviously it's the beginning of the year as well. I am just a bad negotiator but it was funny that going into a ram dealer they kept dropping the price each time I asked for a business card. In the ford dealers I get a sob story of how they can't feed there children with how low they are going.

appreciate any responses,

I think you should be able to get a better deal on a 17. I got about 15 percent off on an F350 at employee pricing in September so in January of the next model year ... I would think they should be able to better than 11 percent for sure.

so even with 15% vers 12% I think I would still stick with the 2018 as it's more what I wanted and less extra that is useless for me. Also even if they were only built a couple of months apart the 2017 is already classed 1 year old since most people do not look at build dates.

So that would put the sticker price for the 2018 right around $72k? Which would make the invoice around $68k? Assuming the current $1k factory rebate is included in the $8600 discount, the sale price is about $3500 under invoice?

My numbers are just a guess based on the info you gave but it doesn’t sound like you’re a bad negotiator at all. If it were me, I wouldn’t have a hard time closing on that deal at all!

WAIT!! Join the Costco Executive Club ($160) and it's all invoice and the salesmen come crawling (calling) to YOU! So I've heard anyway. I've read the fine print and it sounds legit and e a s y.

It's a good deal if you see the value in it and perceive it as as a good deal, nothing else matters. Perception is reality, and opinions are like *********s, of course the wannabe "professional negotiators" on here are going to tell you that you can get a better deal.

That costco crap is just a dang ponzi scheme, it means absolutely nothing when you walk into a dealer. Just ask to see the factory invoice, take into account the dealer fee and come to an agreement on the final adjusted price, and find out what rebates are available to you. It's pretty easy, not rocket science.

I think that 15 -20 percent off msrp (this includes all rebates and incentives you qualify for) should be possible on a '17. Obviously less off on an '18
