I bought a set of lariat take off wheels for my 2017 and am going to run a dedicated snow tire. The wheels I bought did not include the tpms. Would you spend $200 for four new sensors or would you just run without and deal with the light on the dash? If I do go without can somebody confirm that it is just the light on the dash and that there is no dinging or some other sort of alarm on the truck? I can live with a light but not with some annoying alarm. Thanks in advance.
It dings once and then the dash will notify you of the tpms issue and then you just hit ok on the steering wheel. The symbol will flash for a few seconds and then will stay on until you shut the truck off. Note that it will only come on if you drive a certain distance and/or the truck has been on for a while. Not sure which it is. My daily communte to work one way is less than 10 miles so I really never see the light come on. Only on weekends when the fam and I take longer trips. In a nut shell it don't bother me.
I'm considering the same thing. Putting 34" hybrid tires on the OEM 17" rim with the sensors, and picking up a set of OEM 18x9" wheels for 35-36" Maxxis MT's, no sensors.
If is does bother someone, is Forscan the only way to turn it off or has anyone found an aftermarket device that will disable?
My truck is tuned with Ez-Lynk and supposedly in there next coming update they are supposed to have the capability to turn off the TPSM light. Thats also why I didnt pay for new sensors in my aftermarket wheels knowing that EZ-Lynk was going to have that capability...

Sure. They're called TPMS sensors. Install them in the wheels and it will stop the light/alarming. And they'll also advise you when your tire pressure is low ... whoda thunk it?
Do you know what the reprogramming entails? Is it a pretty easy process? I assume my tire shop would take care of that but will have to check with them.

Thank you for the insightful contribution to this thread.
Considered it. I don't want to reprogram every time I swap wheels/tires.
If the truck could find the "new" sensors on it's own, I'd be fine with just buying a 2nd set.
Discount Tire has a set of sensors they call EZ Program. The new sensors can be set to mimic your current sensors. So when you swap from summer to winter tires/wheels/sensors the truck doesn't know the difference.
