How was riding today? Were there any groomed trails?
Riding was good, they may have groomed some spots but I didn't see any fresh tracks. I was actually able to ride farm field trails for the first time since 2014. I did a loop from my house down through the park, back to Mama Gs, then down by Mark's old place, back up 81 and then home. Not too shabby. Too bad it will all be gone by the end of the week. Lots of old iron out today!
My son and I are both home sick today, definitely hope this thing clears out soon.

Yep, that's what I'm doing for now. This is my first Kia, and it's on it's 2nd engine...I've never heard an engine rattle like that before, so it made me nervous. I suppose there's not much I can do until it starts rattling again.

It is not a heat shield or something similar rattling?

No, it's definitely nothing that sounds like that. Varies with engine speed, and only happens on a cold start some of the time. It lasts for 1-2 minutes until you bring the RPMs up and start to drive, then it disappears. Last time I heard it, I jumped out and popped the hood, it appeared to be coming from the timing cover. It wasn't quiet, very noticeable from inside the car.
I can live with a rattle for what I paid for it. I just don't want this thing to see a third engine, that's all...and if you look online it's been known to happen with these early Theta engines.
